About Our Lab
Research Topic
Catalyst group :
Removal of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) is important for improvement of human health.
Catalytic oxidation is considered as efficient technology for VOCs removal but required high energy due to application of high temperature.
Our laboratory developed the low-temperature catalytic oxidation using metal oxides (MOx) for efficient VOCs reduction
Adsorbent group :
Elevation of atmospheric CO2 has great contribution to global warming effect. Our laboratory re-utilized various industrial solid wastes for adsorption of CO2. Mitigation of CO2 using industrial solid waste is an economic and eco-friendly technology.

Catalyst & Adsorption
Photocatalytic technology has been widely implemented to deal with environmental issues. Photocatalyst uses light energy in oxidation and reduction activities and considered as eco-friendly since the reaction can be carried out under mild conditions.
Our laboratory synthesize various photocatalyst materials, like TiO2 and g-C3N4, for removal different types of indoor air pollutants.
Observation not only conducted for photocatalytic activity but also materials characterization and kinetics study of the reaction.

CO2 biofixation using photosynthetic microorganisms has gained high interest due to the high efficiency, great endurance under extreme conditions, and production of valuable bioproducts.
Our laboratory cultivated a thermophilic cyanobacterium, Thermosynechococcus sp. CL-1 (TCL-1) that was isolated from Chin Lun hot spring in Taitung, Taiwan. TCL-1 cultivation performs great biomass growth, CO2 fixation rate, and accumulation of pigments and macromolecules.
Moreover, CO2 biofixation by TCL-1 also has been combined with nutrients utilization from swine wastewater and removal of heavy metals
